Linguists analyzed 26 texts by Dagestani journalist Abdulmumin Gadzhiev, who is accused of financing terrorism, and found no signs of extremism in them. Lawyer Arsen Shabanov told the Caucasian Knot about this.
The defense organized a linguistic examination of 26 of Gadzhiev’s publications cited in the indictment.
There are no incentives in Hajiyev’s texts “to overthrow any authorities in any states,” the examination says. Also, in the journalist’s articles “there is no information about the separation of the republics of the North Caucasus region from the Russian Federation and the establishment of Sharia rule on the territory of these republics.” In addition, the articles lack “information about the need to abandon a secular lifestyle,” the experts concluded.
On March 31, the Rostov District Military Court agreed to attach to the case the conclusion of experts on the results of a linguistic study of Gadzhiev’s articles, the Caucasian Knot notes. On April 11, the court began studying evidence from the defense. One of the two experts who conducted the examination has already been questioned in court.
