The Committee on Freedom of Speech of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has published a list of journalists who have died since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
The publication mentions 21 “documented cases of death of media representatives.” The report does not specify which media the deceased represented, who recorded their deaths, or what caused them in each case.
The list includes, in particular, Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravičius , American documentary filmmaker Brent Reno , Russian journalist Oksana Baulina , who was working on an editorial assignment for The Insider , and Ukrainian photographer Maxim Levin , whose deaths were previously reported.
The authors of the list expressed condolences to the families of the victims. They claim that the journalists died due to the fault of the Russian military.
During a war, it is impossible to quickly verify information that is disseminated even by official representatives of the conflicting parties.
