The funeral of Major General, Deputy Commander of the 8th Army Vladimir Frolov took place at the Serafimovskoye Cemetery in St. Petersburg. Fontanka drew attention to the message from the city administration press service.

The farewell ceremony for the general was attended by the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov. In his statement, he noted that Frolov was a hereditary military man and "died a hero's death in battle with Ukrainian nationalists." No other details of the general's death were given.

The Ukrainian side claims that seven Russian generals have died since the beginning of the war, but Russian authorities have confirmed the death of only one of them - the deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army of the Ground Forces, Andrei Sukhovetsky.
The Russian Defense Ministry has only reported losses twice since the start of the war in Ukraine. The last time, on March 25, the department reported 1,351 Russian servicemen killed. According to estimates by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian losses are around 20,100 people. It does not specify whether this refers only to the dead or also to the wounded.
Another source of information about the losses of the Russian side were the heads of regions or districts, as well as local media. As of April 5, the names of at least 1,083 dead Russian soldiers have been published in Russian official sources, the BBC Russian Service calculated . According to the publication, 217 (or 20% of all confirmed losses) of them were officers from junior lieutenant to general.
