Director Leonid Kheifetz died

Died theater director Leonid Kheifets. He was 87 years old. This is reported by TASS with reference to the leadership of GITIS.

As a director, Kheifets worked at the Soviet Army Theatre, the Maly Theatre, and the Vladimir Mayakovsky Theatre. Among his productions are My Poor Marat, Pavel I, Oginsky's Polonaise, All My Sons, Pygmalion, as well as the television plays Rudin, The Cliff, The Cherry Orchard.

Leonid Kheifets taught at the main theater universities in Russia and the USSR, including directing a workshop at GITIS. Among its graduates are Alexander Pal, Alexander Molochnikov, Nina Chusova, Pavel Derevyanko, Alexander Petrov.

Kheifets was the owner of the Golden Mask Award "For outstanding contribution to the development of theatrical art" and the Stanislavsky International Prize in the nomination "For Contribution to the Development of Theater Pedagogy".
