On Thursday, the head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina performed at a meeting of the State Duma dedicated to the annual report of the Central Bank. She told the deputies how the Central Bank would fight the consequences of sanctions imposed on Russia, and the deputies voted to extend the mandate for another five years. This is what was the most important of the performance of the head of the Central Bank.
The annual report of the head of the Bank of Russia to the State Duma deputies this time passed in the conditions worse. Half of the Russian gold and foreign exchange reserves are frozen, inflation beats records, the key rate of the Central Bank at 17% is prohibitive for the credit market (and after freezing the GDR, the rate was 20%), currency restrictions were introduced, and the ruble, according to the head of the Accounts Chamber, ex-premiere Alexei Kudrin, lost convertibility. Recently there were rumors about the possible resignation of Nabiullina: because she herself resigned twice, then because the Russian aluminum tycoon Oleg Deripaska has recently actively criticized the policy of the Central Bank and there were stubborn rumors that he himself marks the heads of the Bank of Russia.
Elvira Sahipzadovna appeared before the deputies without the usual brooch, but performed confidently, although she spoke things not the most pleasant.
