From "Education" they demanded to remove from the textbooks mention of Ukraine

Employees of the Enlightenment publishing house received an order from the leadership to minimize the mention of Ukraine and Kyiv in school textbooks. About this writes "Mediazona" with reference to three editors of the publishing house.

The order was announced at a "confidential meeting" with employees immediately after the start of the war in Ukraine - February 24. According to the editors, they had to "clean about 15%" texts. At the same time, they noted that the authors of textbooks and editors tried to mention Ukraine as little and more careful since 2014.

So, at the mention of heraldry, they had to replace the flag of Ukraine with the flag of any other country or replace the capital of the country - Kyiv - to another capital. Now editors must remove the mention of Ukraine wherever possible.

“That is, we are faced with the task-to do it as if Ukraine simply doesn’t. It’s much worse when the textbook simply does not say about some country. A person grows up without a knowledge base about some country, and then it is much easier to believe that he is told about it from the TV,” the Mediazon quotes one of the publisher’s employees.

According to the editors, the most difficult thing for those who work on history textbooks, since not mentioning Ukraine and Kyiv without prejudice without content is simply impossible.

“We can mention how we saved Kyiv, but we can’t talk about any kind of independence of Ukraine as a country,” one of the employees describes.

It is planned that in the next academic year one of the textbooks will release the author without the name of the author on the cover, since the author is a citizen of Ukraine, and his surname "openly hints" to this.

Dismissal, according to employees, can now threaten for any manifestation of an anti -war position - signatures under petitions, posts in social networks, participation in protest events. According to the sources of "Mediazone", earlier one of the editors of the department of historical literature lost his work on Facebook.
