The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine announced the release of 45 citizens from Russian captivity

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk spoke about a new exchange of prisoners with Russia. She shared the details in her telegram channel.

According to her, 45 Ukrainians returned home today, including 13 officers and 20 soldiers. The rest of the prisoners are civilians. Vereshchuk did not specify for whom the citizens of Ukraine were exchanged. The Russian side did not comment on the information about the new exchange.

As recalls Hromadske , this is the seventh exchange of prisoners since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The first of them took place on March 24 - 10 Ukrainian soldiers were exchanged for 10 Russian ones. Among those who returned home then were sailors who took part in the defense of Zmeiny Island in the Black Sea.

In total, according to the publication, more than 250 Ukrainians were able to return to their homeland.

Earlier, Irina Vereshchuk reported that Ukraine and Russia have parity in terms of prisoners of war, in both countries there are approximately 700 prisoners of war. Also, according to her, there are more than 1,000 civilians in Russian captivity, “of which about 500 are women.”
