The organizers announced a ban on the “Immortal Regiment” event in the USA, Great Britain and Ireland

Sergei Makarov, co-chairman of the Immortal Regiment's central headquarters, claims that the US authorities have banned the traditional procession with placards this year. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

"The United States not only banned the Immortal Regiment procession, but even laying traditional flowers at the Spirit of the Elbe memorial is prohibited," he said.

In addition, according to him, the permission to hold the procession was withdrawn by the authorities of Great Britain and Ireland. Makarov does not rule out that the action may be banned by the German authorities, but so far this has not happened.

Makarov recalled that earlier the authorities of Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) did not agree on a face-to-face procession - the event will be held only in an online format. In addition, in Kazakhstan this year they refused to hold a military parade - "due to cost savings."

The Immortal Regiment campaign was also held online in Russia in 2020 and 2021 against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. Citizens were offered to post photos of their relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War on social networks or on the website of the action. The Investigative Committee in different regions started criminal cases after the appearance on the portal of photographs of the Nazis along with images of war heroes.
