Three quarters of the Chinese citizens, according to surveys, consider their support to their country in a conflict with Ukraine corresponding to the national interests of the PRC. The overwhelming part of publications in the media and social networks is also withstanding tones favorable for Moscow. Which, however, does not exclude the extremely thorough tracking by Beijing of all aspects and nuances of the development of “special operation”. What exactly the conclusions of Chinese analysts draw exactly at the same time, it is difficult to say: the relevant publications are either harshly censored or appear in closed publications. Nevertheless, something interesting to find on this topic is possible, however, mainly in the Hong Kong and Western media. For example, in the Authentic Source of Information about China and Asia, which was considered from the beginning of the last century, the Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post, which has been acquired in 2016 by the Alibaba Group of billionaire Jack Ma, is considered an expressor of the mood of the “advanced” part of the Chinese establishment.
Here, for example, the article of her Saturday (for 04.23.2022) numbers begins:
“According to diplomatic and military observers, Russia's invasion of Ukraine not only highlighted its tactical errors, but first of all taught China what risks could turn out to be frivolous decisions to start the war. Instead of a quick and easy victory expected by Russian President Vladimir Putin and many observers, [the Russian army] ... was drawn into a quagmire. ”
