The website of "Novaya Gazeta. Europe ”was opened on April 20, 2022. In just nine days, Roskomnadzor blocked our publication at the request of the General Prosecutor's Office. Later on the same day on April 29, the department distributed information that the blocking is related to the “numerous fakes” about the “special military operation in Ukraine”, which is supposedly distributed by our journalists.

I express to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov and the head of Roskomnadzor Andrei Lipov gratitude for the high assessment of our work. Probably, we are the first media that was blocked in the territory of the Russian Federation within such a short time, immediately after the opening. We are glad that during this time we managed to spread a sufficient amount of well -verified and objective information so that you can find “numerous fakes” in it.

We do not write anything about the "special military operation in Ukraine", because what is happening is a war. You need to talk about the war as louder as possible and write as much as possible.

Europe ”was established in the European Union and is under the protection of European laws on freedom and acts in accordance with them.
