The EU authorities have proposed imposing sanctions against the chairman of the board of directors of the National Media Group, Alina Kabaeva, Bloomberg writes, citing the draft EU sanctions list and several sources.
The draft states that the "National Media Group" owns shares in Russian media that distribute state propaganda, and therefore is responsible for supporting actions that undermine the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Kabaeva is "closely linked to [Russian] President Vladimir Putin," the document says.
The new sanctions list must be approved by representatives of all EU member states. Ambassadors of European countries will hold a meeting on this occasion on May 7. The final version of the sanctions list may still change, Bloomberg notes.
