Artist Sasha Skochilenko, arrested because of an anti-war rally, complained of harassment from fellow inmates in a pre-trial detention center

St. Petersburg artist Sasha Skochilenko, who was arrested in the case of "fakes" about the Russian army, faced psychological pressure and harassment in a pre-trial detention center. This was stated by her partner Sonya Subbotina, whose message was published in the telegram channel “Free Sasha Skochilenko!”

According to Subbotina, Skochilenko was transferred to a new cell, where the “senior in the cell” forbade her to eat or drink tea outside of the common breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, the "eldest" took some of the girl's products and keeps them under her bed. The other part is stored in the refrigerator, which can only be opened by the “eldest”. In addition, she forces the artist to throw away some of the food given to her, referring to the fact that there is no place for it.

One day the rest of the women in the cell joined in the persecution. Sasha was constantly told that she smelled bad. The inmates force Sasha to wash all his clothes every day, including oversized sweaters and a warm bathrobe. This takes her half a day and takes away the time in which she could write letters to friends and statements on her case. Recently, she was forced to wash things right in the morning, because of which Sasha missed breakfast again.

Subbotina added that Skochilenko is in a "very depressed state." “She told me through a lawyer that she had no idea what would be left of her if she spent another 10 years in such a place,” the girl said.

• Sasha Skochilenko was detained on April 11 because she replaced price tags in a grocery store with leaflets with information about the shelling of the drama theater in Mariupol and the death of civilians in the city.
• Lawyers asked not to send Skochilenko under arrest, pointing out that she had bipolar affective disorder and celiac disease - an intolerance to the protein of certain cereals, which requires a strict diet.
• In the isolation ward, Skochilenko's health deteriorated. According to Subbotina, the artist, in particular, is worried about pain in the lower abdomen and problems with sleep.
