The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus has recognized the website and social networks of the KYKY publication, as well as several Telegram channels, including Chai z raspberry varennem, as “extremist groups. ” Zerkalo drew attention to the department’s decision .
KYKY and Chai z raspberry varennem, among other things, covered the protests that took place in Belarus after the country's presidential elections in 2020.
The creators, leaders and subscribers of “extremist groups” face up to seven years in prison.
Let us recall that last year, Belarusian courts recognized almost all major independent media as extremist. This violates the right of Belarusians, enshrined in the Constitution, to receive, store and disseminate complete, reliable and timely information about the activities of state bodies, public associations, political, economic, cultural and international life, and the state of the environment.
