Kaliningrad: Two activists conducted searches

According to her, Popov was probably detained earlier, there is no connection with him. Before that, he also had a search.

Nehaeva later informed North. Realiy that from the words of the mother of Vyacheslav Popov, her son "is charged with terrorism" - a criminal case was instituted under Article 205 of the Criminal Code. Which part of the article is unknown.

According to the New Kaliningrad publication with reference to an unnamed source, Vyacheslav Popov is suspected under Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code - the distribution of "fakes" about the army of Russia.

Vyacheslav Popov previously consisted of the Baltic Avangard of Russian Resistance (BARS)-the Kaliningrad movement of monarchists-marginals, adherents of the Russian Orthodox Church abroad. Members of Bars positioned themselves as Russian nationalists, held peaceful actions and marches in support of political prisoners, and opposed corruption.

In 2017, four Kaliningraders were arrested in the Bars case. In 2020, the 2nd Western District Military Court found them guilty in extremism and awarded them from three to eight years in prison. Popov, as a former member of Bars, went through a witness in the case.

• On May 5, the first criminal case was opened in Kaliningrad under the article on the "discredit" of the Russian army. The suspect is an activist from Sovetsk Igor Baryshnikov. According to investigators, the activist posted on his Facebook page 18 messages discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. Baryshnikov’s posts concerned the situation around the maternity hospital in Mariupol, the actions of the Russian army in Buch, he also published references to the articles of foreign media.
• A new article by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation 207.3 On punishment for the dissemination of inaccurate information on the actions of the Russian military was adopted by the State Duma on March 4. It provides for up to three years in prison. If "knowingly false information" is common in an organized group or was accompanied by a fake of evidence, the maximum sentence of punishment grows up to 10 years in prison. If the distribution of "fakes" entailed grave consequences, the guilty will face up to 15 years in the colony.
• According to the Human Rights Project "Agora", at least 32 criminal cases of "discrediting the army" were instituted in Russia. On May 3, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, reported that there were 35 such cases. The defendants in such cases were media manager Ilya Krasovchik, opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza, journalists Maria Ponomarenko, Andrei Novzovov, Alexander Mikhailov, artist Alexander Skochilenko, blogger Veronika Belotserkovskaya and others.
