Sasha Skochilenko's lawyer spoke about improving the conditions of the girl's detention in the St. Petersburg pre-trial detention center

Lawyer Yana Nepovinnova, who defends the artist and participant in the anti-war cause Sasha Skochilenko, spoke about improving the conditions of the girl’s detention in the pre-trial detention center. Nepovinnova’s story was published in the telegram channel of Skochilenko’s support group.

The lawyer visited the girl in the pre-trial detention center on May 6. According to her, Skochilenko began to be provided with hot gluten-free meals, which she needs for medical reasons.

In addition, the girl was transferred to a double cell. “Now she lives with a friendly girl, with whom they are already building their life based on the internal rules, and not the invented rules of unscrupulous women who are also kept in pre-trial detention center-5,” says Nepovinnova.

Earlier, on May 5, it became known that the girl was being bullied by her fellow inmates in the pre-trial detention center.

At the same time, Skochilenko continues to have health problems. “Sasha has complications after tooth extraction due to the fact that they could not sew up her wound due to the lack of suture material. Now her lymph node is inflamed and she is experiencing severe pain. She is provided with antibiotics and painkillers, but, unfortunately, there are not enough painkillers,” the lawyer said.

On April 13, the Vasileostrovsky District Court sent Sasha Skochilenko into custody until June 1. According to investigators, she replaced price tags in the Perekrestok store with leaflets with information about the shelling of the Mariupol Drama Theater and the death of civilians. The investigator considers the disseminated information to be false, and the action itself was committed based on political hostility.

The girl admitted the fact of distributing the leaflets, but does not admit guilt and denies that she disseminated false information. She is charged with an article about disseminating “fake stories” about Russian troops (Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). Skochilenko faces 5 to 10 years in prison.

On April 19, Skochilenko had a seizure because she was not given special food in the temporary detention center. Due to celiac disease - gluten intolerance - she cannot eat many common foods.

• Article 207.3 was included in the Criminal Code in March 2022 as part of an urgent effort to tighten legislation in response to anti-war protests and speech, as well as the dissemination of information about the war that does not come from official Russian sources.
