Russia has stopped supplying electricity to Finland
Rao Nordic Oy (a subsidiary of Russian Inter RAO) stopped supplying electricity to Finland from May 14 due to non-payment. This was reported on the company's website.
"Unfortunately, they are forced to state that the amounts sold on the Nord Pool from May 6 have not yet entered our bank account. This situation is exceptional and occurred for the first time in more than twenty years of our trading history," the company said.
The Finnish operator of the Fingrid electric networks said the situation will not jeopardize the country with electricity. The electricity imported from Russia covers about 10% of the total consumption of Finland.
Earlier, the media suggested that, due to Helsinki's plans, Moscow would stop the supply of gas to Finland to NATO. The Kremlin denies this information.
