The US Embassy resumed work in Kyiv

The US Embassy resumed work in Kyiv on Wednesday - more than three months after it suspended it due to the threat of Russian invasion of Ukraine.

American diplomats left the capital of Ukraine on February 14, 10 days before the invasion. The work of the embassy was organized in Lviv. After the outbreak of large-scale war for some time, diplomats left for Poland, but some of the embassy’s employees came to Lviv to solve urgent problems.

The decision to return to Kyiv was made after the retreat of Russian troops from the city. In April and May, diplomats of a number of countries who had previously left the capital of Ukraine returned to Kyiv.

The state flag is re -raised over the US Embassy building. So far, a limited number of diplomats will work in Kyiv. It is expected that it will gradually increase.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed that the embassy resumed work in Kiev. According to him, "the Ukrainian people, to whom we provided assistance in the field of security, defended our country from unscrupulous Russian aggression."
