Russia sent diplomats from the EU countries and closed the Canadian CBC bureau

Russia sends 34 employees of the diplomatic missions of France, 27 - Spain and 24 - Italy. They were given two weeks to leave the country. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, these measures were taken in response to the expulsion of Russian diplomats after the start of the Russian war against Ukraine.

Russian diplomats were sent from France in early April. It was reported that their activity "contradicts the interests of security." At the same time, it became known that Paris announced by persons Non Grata six employees of the Russian Embassy, who are claimed to carry out intelligence activities under diplomatic cover. Also, due to the security threat, 25 employees of the Russian embassy were sent from Spain in early April, and 30 from Italy.

The mass expulsion of Russian diplomats from European countries began after the emergence of evidence of probable war crimes of the Russian army in Bucha near Kiev, where after leaving the city of Russian military, the bodies of civilians with traces of torture and gunshot wounds were discovered. Almost all EU countries sent diplomats, Russia reports on return measures.

Also on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry representative, Maria Zakharova, announced the closure of the CBC CBC Canadian television and radio broadcasting corporation in Moscow. According to Zakharova, the accreditation and Russian visas of journalists will be canceled. This decision in the Foreign Ministry is also called a "response measure." Earlier, Ottawa banned the broadcasting of the Russian RT channel.

In addition, on Tuesday, Canada expanded restrictions for citizens of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, which are under sanctions due to war in Ukraine. Among them are Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu. Now they and their families will not be able to enter Canada.
