The governor of the Kursk region reported shelling of border villages

The governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoyt, reported on Saturday about the shelling of villages in the Glushkovsky region bordering Ukraine.

“Again shelling, mortar shelling. We’re finding out the details,” Starovoit says in a video posted on the Telegram channel. According to him, the strike affected the village of Tyotkino and nearby settlements; he did not specify their names, notes RBC .

In recent days, authorities in the region - against the backdrop of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine - have several times announced shelling of populated areas. For example, it was alleged that on the evening of May 19 the villages of Alekseevka and Dronovka came under mortar fire. There were no injuries or damage. A day earlier, it was reported that Alekseevka was shelled three times from Ukraine during the day. At the same time it was said that as a result of the shelling of the village of Tyotkino, one person was killed - a truck driver from the Voronezh region.

At the beginning of May, a bridge partially collapsed on the Sudzha-Sosnovy Bor section of the railway. Roman Starovoit then called the incident sabotage. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case regarding the terrorist attack.

Since April 11, the Kursk region, as well as a number of other regions bordering Ukraine, has been on a “yellow” (high) level of terrorist threat. The last time it was extended until May 25.
