Russia intends to make payments on the decision of the ECHR only in rubles

The bill on the deadline for the execution of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Russia will be supplemented by the norm that payments for the decisions already made will be made only in rubles.

This was announced by one of the authors of the project, the head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Law and State Construction Andrei Klishas. According to him, such amendments will be prepared for the second reading.

“We agreed with colleagues in the State Duma on amending our bill on“ divorce ”from the ECHR that, according to decisions that have already been issued in relation to Russia (on the date of withdrawal from the Council of Europe), payments will be made only in rubles, while it will be forbidden to make payments to accounts in unfriendly countries,” wrote Klishas in the telegram channel.

The first reading the document was on May 18. The State Duma adopted a package of two bills, which stipulate that the resolutions of the ECHR issued after March 16 will not be executed in Russia and will cease to be the basis for revising the decisions of Russian courts, Kommersant notes .

On March 16, Russia was excluded from the Council of Europe for the invasion of Ukraine. Later it became known that from September 16, 2022, Russia will cease to be a participant (high contracting party) of the European Convention on Human Rights.
