The Supreme Court of Khakassia refused to change the measure of restraint to Afanasyev, leaving the journalist under arrest. He was charged with an article on the “public distribution of knowingly false information about the use of the RF Armed Forces using your official position” (Article 207.3, part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) for the publication that 11 riot police from Khakassia refused to go to Belarus and Ukraine. According to the investigation, part of the information in the material is allegedly not true.

“I am not lying and I don’t invent. I just did my job as a journalist,” Afanasyev quoted the publication as saying.

The materials of the criminal case of Afanasyev include interrogations in the Investigative Committee of the current and former employees of the Russian Guard. According to the publication, the subscription of the non -disclosure of the case file from its participants was not taken. According to the documents, the Rosgvardeytsev was taken to the exercises on the eve of the war - learning about the invasion of the invasion of Ukraine, some of the interrogated were refused to execute the order, citing the disease, and left the location of the military unit.

The materials of the criminal case against the journalist were prepared by the FSB officers.
