In Russia, after the outbreak of war, salt sharply rose

In Russia, the increase in salt prices in March and April has become the largest since 2006, analyzed the publication of RBC. The Ministry of Industry and Trade explains the jump in the cost of goods in high demand among the population at the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

According to RBC, in February 2022, the price of salt on average in the country was 14.9 rubles, in April this figure increased to 18.3 rubles. In March, in the second month since the beginning of hostilities, the price of salt rose by 23% (compared to the same month of 2021), in April, growth reached 32%.

The last time such a sharp rise in salt prices in Russia was recorded in 2006, during the so-called "salt crisis", when, against the background of discussions about the termination of supply of Ukrainian salt due to a gas conflict, prices for this product increased by 58%per month. According to the results, the FAS accused consumer prices of prices, due to the excitement demand of which supposedly an increase in the cost of the goods occurred.

Earlier, RBC, relying on the data of NTECHLAB (developer of the person recognition system), reported that in Russia over the past three months the number of thefts from stores has increased significantly by an average of 18%. More often (25%) began to endure products along with the basket, and the trend of the season was theft at the cash desks of self -service.
