Nek called Russia to immediately stop bombing hospitals

The Assembly of the World Health Organization adopted a resolution in which it condemned Russia's attack on Ukraine, reports Reuters.

88 states voted for the resolution, against - 12, 53 abstained. WHO, in particular, called on Russia to immediately stop striking on hospitals and other medical institutions in Ukraine.

At the same time, the organization’s assembly rejected the resolution of Russia and Syria with an appeal to pay attention to the problems of Ukraine in the field of healthcare, since the Russian authorities omitted the fact that they themselves caused these problems. 66 countries voted against her, for - 15, another 70 abstained.

Two weeks ago, the WHO European Committee adopted a resolution proposed to transfer the organization’s office to combat non -infectious diseases outside Russia. This resolution was initiated by more than 35 WHO member countries, and Georgia, Türkiye, Moldova and Israel voted for it. The Ministry of Health of Russia believes that the transfer of the office "will cause direct damage to all countries."

The Reuters source reported that WHO does not want to impose strict sanctions against Russia due to the risk of harm to the health of Russians. According to the agency, the closure of the office in Moscow is political in nature, and its goal is to strengthen the isolation of Russia.
