The Ministry of Agriculture proposed to ban the export of rice from Russia until the end of the year

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has developed a resolution on a temporary ban on the export of rice and rice groats from July 1 to December 31, 2022. The document was published on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

The explanatory note states that the export restrictions are aimed at ensuring Russia’s food security and maintaining domestic prices for rice grain.

The ban will not apply to rice supplies to the EAEU countries, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, the DPR and LPR, humanitarian aid, as well as supplies under international agreements and transit shipments. In addition, the export of rice for the military located outside the Russian Federation and for Russian organizations in Baikonur and the Spitsbergen archipelago will not be prohibited.
