Welt am Sonntag: Germany has reduced arms supplies to Ukraine to a minimum

Germany has reduced the supply of light weapons to Ukraine in the past two months, Welt am Sonntag reports, citing sources and documents.

Between March 30 and May 26, Germany made only two arms deliveries to Ukraine. In April, these were, in particular, spare parts for machine guns, hand grenades, mines, explosive cords, and in May - 4,600 anti-tank mines.

The last delivery of Strela anti-aircraft systems and Panzerfaust 3 grenade launchers was made at the end of March, although in April and May Ukraine requested this and other weapons, including anti-ship missiles.

• On May 28, German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen said that “heavy weapons will be very soon,” writes the Ukrainian edition of NV. According to her, we are talking about howitzers, anti-aircraft self-propelled guns "Gepard" and anti-aircraft weapons. “The process has already started,” she said.
• Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has been asking Western countries for supplies, first of all, of heavy weapons necessary to effectively counter the Russian offensive and, in the long run, to recapture the territory occupied by the Russians. Western countries fear that this will be perceived by Russia as an additional escalation.
• According to The New York Times, at the end of May, US President Joe Biden approved the supply of multiple launch rocket systems to Ukraine.
