Politician Alexei Navalny, who is in a Vladimir colony, was charged with another charge - creating an extremist community. This was reported on the oppositionist's Twitter.
“It turns out that I created an extremist group to incite hatred towards officials and oligarchs. And when I was imprisoned, I dared to be dissatisfied with this (really, it was me) and called for rallies. For this I’m supposed to get another 15 years,” Navalny’s associates quote him as saying.
The case about an extremist community (parts 1.2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) against Navalny and his associates was opened in September 2021. The investigation believes that the oppositionist created a community whose goal was to “discredit government bodies.” In addition, the Investigative Committee claims, Navalny and his team called for “extremist and terrorist activities.”
The new charge against Navalny came a week after his previous sentence came into force. The Lefortovo District Court of Moscow, at an off-site hearing in the Pokrovsk colony, sentenced the oppositionist to 9 years in a maximum security colony.
