The bodies of 160 soldiers transferred from Russia to Ukraine were removed from Azovstal

160 bodies of dead military personnel, which Russia handed over to Ukraine on June 2 as part of an exchange, were removed from the Mariupol Azovstal plant. Anna Golovko, a representative of the Azov regiment, told the Associated Press.

According to her, at least 52 of the dead, according to preliminary data, served in Azov. The remains of some of the victims will be identified through DNA analysis, as follows from the article.

It is unknown how many bodies still remain on the territory of the plant, the agency notes.

• On June 4,it became known that two days earlier Ukraine and Russia handed over the remains of dead servicemen to each other. This was the first official announcement of such an exchange.
• The Ukrainian military defended itself at the Mariupol Azovstal plant for many weeks before surrendering in mid-May. This was preceded by massive bombings and assault attempts by pro-Russian forces. There are 2.5 thousand soldiers from Azovstal in Russian captivity, including soldiers of the Azov regiment, the most odious Ukrainian unit for Russian propaganda.
