"If there is an opportunity to "rock" the Russian authorities, we must do it." Zelensky on granting Nevzorov Ukrainian citizenship

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the granting of Ukrainian citizenship to Russian journalist Alexander Nevzorov .

If we have the opportunity to "rock" the Russian authorities, we must do all this with the citizens of the Russian Federation who are against the Kremlin's policies, against President Putin. <…> We are happy when [Andrey] Makarevich or [Liya] Akhedzhakova support Ukraine, aren't we? People with non-Ukrainian citizenship, but who clearly formulate a pro-Ukrainian position and oppose the Russian authorities, are on our side. This is our weapon.

Zelensky also stated that Nevzorov, according to his information, wanted to renounce Russian citizenship, Suspilne reports .

As journalists note, the President of Ukraine stated that Nevzorov “is on the lists,” but did not confirm the fact that he was granted citizenship.

Update: Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov stated that Nevzorov still needs to go through certain procedures to obtain Ukrainian citizenship.

• A criminal case has been opened against Alexander Nevzorov in Russia for disseminating "false information" about the Russian army due to posts about the bombing of a maternity hospital in Mariupol. He is abroad.
