A picketer who spoke out for the release of Sofia Sapega was detained in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, picketer Dmitry Chernysh was detained, who advocated the release of Russian woman Sofya Sapega, convicted in Belarus. He himself informed OVD-Info about this.

The activist came out with a poster "Free Sofya Sapega" to the Embassy of Belarus. The man was taken to police department No. 76. A defender from OVD-Info, Svetlana Belyaeva, came to his aid.

17:30 Dmitry Chernysh was released from the police. A protocol was drawn up against him under the “anti-coronavirus” article (Article 8.6.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of St. Petersburg).

• In 2021, Sofya Sapega, together with the ex-editor of the telegram channel NEXTA Roman Protasevich, was detained at the Minsk airport. Their plane made a forced landing. In May 2022, she was sentenced to six years in prison under seven articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus.
