
The European Court of Human Rights recovered 35 thousand euros in favor of the parents of two oncomal prisoners who died after unlagant medical care in prison hospitals. This was announced by the head of the human rights project "Agora" Pavel Chikov.
The Strasbourg court announced his decision on the complaint of his mother, Sergei Lyapin and father, Ekaterina Nusalova, on June 9 today. He ordered the Government of the Russian Federation to pay 15 thousand euros, Father Ekaterina Nusalova - 20 thousand euros in compensation for non -pecuniary damage to the mother of Lyapin.
According to the complaint of relatives, Lyapin refused to transfer to the medical institution, where it was possible to conduct a “radical surgery”, and Nusalova Ekaterina was refused a urgent transfer to a specialized institution.
The human rights activists managed to achieve the release of prisoners in connection with a serious illness, but they soon died. Nusalova died in the Gaaz St. Petersburg Hospital. The ECHR admitted that the Russian authorities violated the ban on the inhuman and humiliating the dignity of circulation (Article 3 of the Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms) and allowed the lack of effective means of legal protection (Article 13 of the Convention).
