Tinkoff Bank today announced the introduction of a commission of 1% per month (not per year!) from June 23 for servicing card accounts with a balance above 1000 USD. in dollars, euros, pounds sterling and Swiss francs. Moreover, the commission will be written off daily.
“This measure is due to the unreliability of foreign foreign exchange partners for Russia and is aimed at reducing the foreign exchange position of Tinkoff Bank,” the bank explained.
In addition, from June 23, it will be possible to open a savings account with Tinkoff only in rubles, the existing currency savings accounts have been closed, and dollars and euros from them have been transferred to client accounts. “For convenience, until June 30, we are canceling the commission for SWIFT transfers,” the bank writes.
According to RBC Investments, in the near future, a similar practice will be extended to currency held in brokerage accounts, but not to securities. The bank believes that the amounts exceeding 1000 USD in the listed currencies are kept by an "insignificant part" of the bank's clients.
