Vladimir Putin signed a law on Russia’s failure to comply with decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), which entered into force after March 15, 2022. The law that came into force today is on the Official Internet Portal of Legal Information.
published Article 7 of the new law states: “Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights that entered into force after 15 March 2022 are not enforceable in the Russian Federation. Payment of monetary compensation under rulings of the European Court of Human Rights that entered into force until March 15, 2022 inclusive, is made exclusively in Russian rubles to accounts in Russian credit institutions and cannot be made to accounts in foreign credit institutions located in foreign countries committing unfriendly actions towards the Russian Federation.”
