In Buryatia, friends of the United Russia member who denied his guilt in the death of a 17-year-old girl in an accident were given suspended sentences

The Pribaikalsky District Court imposed a fine and suspended sentences on the friends of United Russia Member of the People's Khural Bair Zhambalov, who hit the girl to death. This was reported by “People of Baikal”, a press release published on the court’s website.

Galust Pilosyan was fined 70 thousand rubles. Sergei Khungeev and Bair Tsyrendorzhiev were each given a suspended sentence of one and a half years. Pilosyan was found guilty of giving false testimony (Part 1 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code), Khungeev and Tsyrendorzhiev were found guilty of giving false testimony, accusing a person of committing a serious crime (Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code). “God is their judge. Did they [defend Zhambalov] of their own free will? On the one hand, they are also hostages of the situation. But, nevertheless, they were punished. It's time to let go of the situation. We need to move on,” said the father of the deceased.

According to investigators, in 2020, deputy Zhambalov and his friends were returning from fishing and at high speed near the village of Baturino ran into 17-year-old Galina Burchevskaya, who was crossing the road. The deputy left without helping her, and the girl died in the hospital from her injuries.

A few hours after the incident, Pilosyan came to the police and tried to take the blame for the accident on himself, claiming that he had swapped cars with the deputy. Khungeev and Tsyrendorzhiev confirmed this.

The parliamentarian was detained in the spring of 2020, a few months after the accident. Zhambalov did not admit guilt; in May 2021, he was sentenced to six months in a penal colony, having been found guilty of and.

As stated in the verdict, the court “is critical of the testimony of witnesses” that Pilosyan was driving the car that hit Burchevskaya.
