IKEA decided to sell all its factories in Russia; company employees were informed of layoffs

The Swedish manufacturer of furniture and household goods has decided to sell all its production facilities in Russia, RBC reports , citing the company’s press service.

We are talking about four factories in the Leningrad, Kirov and Novgorod regions, IKEA is already looking for buyers for these assets.

As the telegram channels “Caution, News” and Baza write , today a general online meeting of Russian IKEA employees was held. About 20 thousand people took part in it, writes Baza , including the chairman of the board of directors of the group, Patrick Anthony.

Employees, according to telegram channels, were informed that IKEA was leaving Russia. The workers were offered dismissal by agreement of the parties with the payment of several salaries.

The company's press service noted that owned by IKEA Mega shopping centers will continue to operate in Russia. Items remaining in warehouses will be sold out.

On March 3 , IKEA suspended operations in Russia and Belarus due to the war in Ukraine. The employees continued to be paid their salaries.
