Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Khusnullin: "Azovstal" will continue to work as an industrial park or a resting place

The Azovstal metallurgical plant, destroyed as a result of a long siege in Mariupol, will continue its work in a different capacity in the future, announced the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government, Marat Khusnullin.

“This zone can continue to work as an industrial park or a place of rest, but of course not as a metallurgical complex,” he wrote in his telegram channel.

In an interview with Russia 24, he also spoke about the prospects for the restoration of Mariupol. “The costs of this work are still difficult to assess, but they are quite large. Almost all buildings are examined, we understand for each building what needs to be demolished, what to repair and what to build a new one, ”said Khusnullin. “It is planned that by 2035 about 500 thousand people will live in Mariupol.”

• The Ukrainian military defended themselves at the Azovstal Mariupol plant for two months before surrendering in mid -May. This was preceded by massive bombing and attempts to storm from the pro -Russian forces. Currently, in Russian captivity there are 2.5 thousand military from Azovstal, including fighters of the Azov regiment.
