In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the case of Jehovah's Witnesses, which was opened three months ago, was brought to court

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the case of Jehovah's Witness Yuri Yakovlev came to court three months after the start of the investigation: the case was opened on March 28, and on June 20 the Sosnovoborsky City Court began to consider it. This was reported on the website of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia.

The 55-year-old believer is accused of organizing the activities of an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, Yakovlev “organized religious performances and services” of Jehovah’s Witnesses via online broadcasts.

On March 29, searches were carried out at Yakovlev and four other houses of believers in Sosnovoborsk, and some Jehovah’s Witnesses were interrogated. Yakovlev was detained, and the next day he was taken into custody for two months.

• On April 20, 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization, liquidated it and banned its activities in Russia. In August, all Jehovah's Witnesses organizations were added to the list of prohibited organizations. After this, a stream of criminal cases against representatives of the confession began.
