A report was drawn up against the writer Viktor Shenderovich for violating the law on “foreign agents”

An administrative report was drawn up against the writer Viktor Shenderovich under the article on failure to fulfill the duties of a foreign agent (part 1 of article 19.34.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The Ministry of Justice added Shenderovich to the list of media outlets performing the function of a “foreign agent” on December 30, 2021. In April, on the air of the Vozdukh program on the Khodorkovsky Live YouTube channel, the writer said that he was recognized as a “foreign agent” due to the transfer of 13,500 rubles from a foreign citizen.

In January of this year, Viktor Shenderovich left Russia because of a libel complaint filed against him by businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin. “As long as this Prigozhin is an elite here, I, therefore, will continue to perform the function of a foreign agent - outside the homeland, but without a muzzle. So it will be more pleasant for me, and it will be more fun for you, ”the writer said then.

• On December 30, 2021, Prigozhin filed a statement with the Sokolniki police department that Shenderovich, on the air of Ekho Moskvy on March 18, 2021, called him a “murderer” and said that he was sponsoring the Wagner PMC. The businessman asked to initiate a criminal case on libel, combined with a charge of a particularly serious crime (part 5 of article 128.1 of the Criminal Code, the article provides for up to five years in prison).
• On December 24, 2021, the Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg has already satisfied Prigozhin’s civil claim in connection with these statements and recovered one million rubles from Ekho Moskvy, and 100 thousand rubles from Shenderovich.
