Blogger Sergei Komandirov's detention was extended for six months

Opposition blogger Sergei Komandirov, against whom several criminal cases have already been initiated, has had his arrest extended for six months. This was reported by the Politzek-Info telegram channel.

The commanders have been in pre-trial detention center-1 in Smolensk since October 2021. At the beginning of June 2022, he went on a hunger strike due to the failure to provide him with medical care. After 10 days, he managed to get the complaints reviewed by the head of the detention center, and he announced an end to the hunger strike.

Criminal cases against Komandirov were initiated under articles on justification of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code), incitement of hatred (Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code), rehabilitation of Nazism (Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code) and insulting a government official (Article 282 of the Criminal Code). 319 CC).

• Sergei Komandirov is in a pre-trial detention center on a criminal case for justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). The case was initiated due to the publication of one of the videos of the web series * “Judge Gramm” on VKontakte with an appeal to financially support the author of the series * Karim Yamadayev . According to investigators, Komandirov distributed a video on the social network “containing signs of justification of terrorism, the formation of an ideology of terrorism, and a belief in the permissibility of carrying out terrorist activities.” He has been in custody since October 2021.
• In March 2022, it became known that the Investigative Committee opened three more criminal cases against the blogger - on the rehabilitation of Nazism (Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code), on incitement of hatred (Clause “a”, Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code) and on insulting a government official (Article 319 of the Criminal Code). Komandirov believes that the basis of the case for the rehabilitation of Nazism is a post “criticizing Putin’s government regarding his attitude towards Victory Day”; the case of incitement to hatred, in his opinion, was opened because of a post containing a quote from journalist Arkady Babchenko; and the reason for the case of insulting the authorities was a post in defense of Natalya Mitsyuk, who was detained in Smolensk during a 2021 rally in support of Navalny.
