Belgorod human rights activist Yevgeny Sokolov received an SMS notification about an upcoming hearing in the Belgorod Regional Court, which will consider the imposition of a court fine for contempt of court on his part. Sokolov himself informed OVD-Info about this.

Sokolov does not know on what basis the court was appointed. After receiving the notice on June 28, he addressed the Supreme Court and the chairman of the regional court with the relevant question, but did not receive a response.

Sokolov regularly defends Belgorod activists. He has an internship with local activist Ilya Kostyukov, who is subjected to pressure after being detained at a picket in defense of trolleybuses.
