Chief of the Russian General Staff Gerasimov inspected troops fighting in Ukraine. Shoigu conducted the inspection a week ago

Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov checked the troop groups involved in the "special operation" in Ukraine. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on its Telegram channel.

"Gerasimov heard from commanders on the use of troops (forces) in the course of carrying out tasks of a special military operation, as well as other officials on issues of combat support for the actions of Russian groups in various directions," the statement said.

The Defense Ministry did not specify where exactly Gerasimov was. The agency published footage from the trip.

During a war, it is impossible to quickly verify information that is disseminated even by official representatives of the conflicting parties.

• On June 26, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the group of troops fighting in Ukraine was inspected by the head of the department, Sergei Shoigu. The department also did not specify where exactly the minister visited. Before this, there were no reports of Shoigu's trips to the front.
