Voting at the Moscow City Hall chose the site next to the British Embassy as the location for the “Lugansk People’s Republic Square” - at the intersection of Smolenskaya Embankment with the exit to New Arbat.
This option had 57% of the votes. On the other side of New Arbat is Free Russia Square.
Other options for the “LPR Square” were a place near the German consulate and a place near the embassies of Lithuania and Latvia.
The project “Caution, News” by journalist Ksenia Sobchak alleged that employees of an unnamed budget “leisure center” in Moscow were asked to vote for the British Embassy option and send screenshots.
The survey on the City Hall platform “Active Citizen” was launched on July 1 after the square near the US Embassy was renamed “Donetsk People’s Republic Square.” Moscow state employees told Mediazona that they were also forced to vote for this option.
The US Embassy did not write a new address on its website and instead indicated the coordinates.
