Kostroma City Hall did not approve a rally for the preservation of trolleybuses

The mayor's office of Kostroma refused to agree on a rally for the preservation of trolleybuses. This is reported by the local branch of the Communist Party.

The communists wanted to hold an action on 8 July. At first, the officials suggested appointing it for seven in the morning, but the activists did not agree and asked to be allowed to hold a rally in the evening. As a result, the mayor's office decided to refuse to hold the action at all, referring to the celebration of the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity.

The party decided to submit a new application for another date.

The city authorities decided to eliminate the trolleybus network and replace them with buses, citing the expensive maintenance of electric transport. Local activists and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation oppose this initiative, because they believe that the reform will lead to the transfer of transport to private hands and a rise in fares.
