Amurier: part of the bridge under construction collapsed

In Blagoveshchensk, part of the bridge under construction across the Zeya River collapsed. The design went to the “wave” and parts of the object collapsed into the water, the editorial office of Siberia reported.

According to the workers, the accident occurred on July 4. “None of the workers were injured, so they did not stop the work,” said the worker Dmitry K.

Eyewitnesses report that at about 19 pm the bridge began to swing, and its units flew into the water. “The bridge vibrated, the battles began to swing - there was a feeling that they would break now. We missed the moment of falling, but turned to a terrible roar. It was worse for people, they ran directly along the remnants of the swinging bridge,” said a resident of Blagoveshchensk Svetlana.

The regional Ministry of Transport later said that the emergency on the construction site of the new bridge happened due to the "shift of the temporary metal structures of the solar devices."

"The reason for the displacement was the expansion of the metal due to the abnormally high air temperature. Technical decisions were promptly made, the situation did not affect the bridge structures. There were no victims," the ministry said.

• The general contractor of the bridge over Zeya is the Bamtonnelstroy-Most JSC. The company’s board is headed by billionaire Ruslan Baysarov.
• The bridge across Zeya is being built from June 2020 to the replace of the old, introduced in 1981. The construction of the bridge on 23 supports is carried out simultaneously from two shores. In June 2022, the contractor reported that concrete work on channel and floodplain supports was completed, they are equipped for a band of the span on the supporting units.
• They plan to launch the bridge in 2023. The displacement of the deadlines is not reported. According to Amur Mash telegram channel, about 20 billion rubles have already been spent on the construction of the bridge.
