The Southern District Military Court extended until October 28 the arrest of the journalist of the Dagestan newspaper “Chernovik” Abdulmumin Gadzhiev, accused of financing terrorism (Part 4 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code). The period of detention was also extended for his “accomplices” Kemal Tambiev and Abubakar Rizvanov. This was reported by the telegram channel “Full PC 2.0”.
At the meeting, prosecution witness Anna Papushina, who is serving a sentence of imprisonment under the article on organizing the financing of terrorism, was also interrogated. She refused to confirm the earlier testimony.
Gadzhiev is also charged with participation in the activities of an extremist (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code) and terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). In particular, his criminal case is based on the testimony of another person involved in the case - businessman Kemal Tambiev. Later, Tambiev himself stated that he had slandered the journalist under torture. There is another defendant in the case - the former head of the Ansar Foundation, Abubakar Rizvanov.
The investigation claims that Gadzhiev allegedly participated in ISIS, an organization banned in Russia and recognized as terrorist. The journalist, according to the prosecution, published information in Chernovik about the Ansar Foundation, which belongs to the preacher Abu Umar Sasitlinsky - he is considered the organizer of terrorist financing through charitable organizations.
Gadzhiev is charged with an article about the activities of an extremist organization due to the fact that he, along with Tambiev and Rizvanov, allegedly participated in the activities of the banned organizations “Congress of the Peoples of Ichkeria and Dagestan” and “Higher Military Majlisul Shura of the United Mujahideen Forces of the Caucasus.”
