Ex-Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe died in the hospital after the attack. A former serviceman shot at him

On Japan, the former prime minister of Japan Abe, on July 8, was committed. This happened at about 11:50 local time (05:50 in Moscow) during ABE's speech during the election campaign in the Nara Prefecture. They shot it twice from home -made weapons. After that, Shinzo Abe was urgently taken by helicopter to the hospital in a state of “stopping heart and lungs”, that is, clinical death.

NHK later reported that the ex-Prime Minister of Japan died.

The attacked Abe was detained, he gave the first testimony. It turned out to be a 41-year-old local resident of Tetsuya Yamagami, in the past he was a soldier, a sailor of Self-defense forces of Japan. NHK reports that the attacker was dissatisfied with Abe’s policy and wanted to kill him.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin is deeply saddened by the death of the ex-Prime Minister of Japan Abe and most decisively condemn this attempt.

The reaction of the Russian Foreign Ministry to the attempt (then it was not yet known about the death of ABE):

We know S. Abe as an outstanding politician who made an invaluable contribution to the development of Russian-Japanese relations in all areas on the ways of building mutual trust and good neighborliness. ”

Sinzo Abe was at the head of the ruling party and as Prime Minister of Japan from 2012 to 2020. This is an absolute record for a continuous stay in the premier post in the history of Japan. From his position, he left due to poor health.
