Freedom in Russia will be even less, and more chances to get to jail. In the last days of the spring session, the State Duma has adopted a number of important laws that tighten the political regime, limit the distribution of information and introduce an analogue of martial law in the economy. Changes to the Criminal Code: a ban on cooperation with foreigners and terms for demonstrating social networks logos

With one bill, deputies changed several articles of the Criminal Code at once and added new ones. All innovations are directly or indirectly related to the war, the foreign policy confrontation and the persecution of dissenters.

Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has been expanded, which refers to the organization of illegal armed groups. It will be added to it about participation in a military conflict against the interests of the Russian Federation. This will be punished for a period of 12 to 20 years. Presumably, things under this article can now be instituted in those Russians who are involved in military operations on the side of Ukraine (for example, as part of the Freedom of Russia Legion). In particular, it is known that the former vice-president of Gazprombank Igor Volobuev joined the Legion. In Russia, there is already a detainee for preparations for participation in the Legion of the resident of Yakutia Nikolai Okhlopkov (he was accused of the existing article of the Criminal Code to prepare for participation in armed formation).

Article 2742 has been added to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which will probably affect Internet providers-officials and individual entrepreneurs. They are proposed to punish (up to three years in prison) for violation of the procedure for the installation, operation and modernization of “technical means of counteract threats”, that is, we can assume, equipment for filtering and monitoring traffic . Violation of the requirements for traffic passing will be equally severely punished (for example, if some provider has not blocked this or that site). At the same time, criminal punishment is possible only after the administrative, which plays the role of warning.

An article on treason has undergone changes. This concept included the "transition to the side of the enemy." The transition means “the participation of persons in the directly opposing the Russian Federation of the forces (troops) of a foreign state, an international or foreign organization in an armed conflict, military operations or other actions using weapons and military equipment”. Thus, surrender should still not be equated with the Stateizer (such fears sounded at the stage of preparing the bill).
