Spiegel: Germany solved the problem with ammunition for Gepard installations

Germany solved the problem with the supply of ammunition for anti -aircraft self -propelled artillery installations Gepard, which can now be unhindered in Ukraine. It is reported by Der Spiegel .

The German government promised to carry out supplies in the spring, but the lack of ammunition for these attitudes was an obstacle in their way. The German authorities had only about 60 thousand 35 mm shells, which was clearly not enough. Switzerland, which produced such ammunition, blocked their transfer to Ukraine third countries.

As a result, the German government reportedly found a supplier in Norway. He promised to provide the required number of shells for the service of the GEPARD installations of automatic guns Oerlikon. Shells should be tested at the shooting range of the Bundeswehr in Putlos (Schleswig-Holstein) next week. If there are no problems, then about 30 Gepard units can be delivered to Ukraine in July.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the German authorities for the first time in recent history revised a policy prohibiting the supply of weapons to the conflict zones, and promised to help Kyiv supplies of weapons. However, many of the promised weapons have not yet been set, which is why the Government of Germany criticizes both representatives of Ukraine and the opposition.
