The Moscow prosecutor's office asked the Moscow City Court to liquidate the interregional public organization “Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers”. This follows from the court ruling on the adoption of an administrative case on the liquidation of the organization of June 16, which Vedomosti familiarized with. The reasons for applying the supervisory authority to the court are not indicated there.
At the same time, the court on July 4 at the request of the prosecutor's office suspended the work of the trade union in connection with the initiation of an administrative case on the discrediting of the army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The reason for the initiation of the case was “placing the publication on the website of the organization, containing inaccurate information about the course of the special military operation to protect the DPR and LPR, aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”. The Moscow City Court granted the request of the prosecutor's office before consideration on the merits of the case on the liquidation of the organization.
The prosecutor's office believes that the trade union by its publications of an “illegal nature” violates “human rights and freedoms, causes harm to public order and public security, society and the state.” The Moscow City Court confirmed the receipt of the claim by the prosecutor's office. The preliminary meeting is scheduled for July 13. As the plaintiff, the prosecutor of the city of Moscow Popov D.G.
Lawyer Maxim Krupsky said that the trade union was not reported either about the initiation of an administrative case, or the lawsuit on the liquidation of the organization. “These procedures are mandatory from the point of view of the current legislation and represent an important element of the organization’s right to defense,” Krupsky said to Vedomosti. In May, the prosecutor’s office checked the activities of the trade union and demanded that the organization, its charter, decisions and protocols of congresses and meetings, information on sources of financing and financial and economic activities, as well as the events carried out by the organization.
The "Trade Union of Journalists" was created by Mediazone employees after an attack by unknown buses with journalists on the border of Chechnya and Ingushetia in 2016. However, since then the management has changed in the organization, and the employees of the Mediazone came out of it. At the same time, the "Trade Union of Journalists" should not be confused with the pro -government "Union of Journalists", Sota notes .
Recall that the law on fakes regarding the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and on discrediting the army was adopted in March of this year against the backdrop of the “special military operation” of Russia in Ukraine, begun on February 24 by order of Vladimir Putin. In addition to administrative, he also implies criminal liability with a punishment of up to 15 years in colony.
