The Duma offers to ban the "propaganda of non -traditional relationships"

The State Duma Committee on Information Policy offers to completely ban the "propaganda of non -traditional relations" in Russia.

The corresponding bill may consider the parliament in the autumn session. This was reported in his telegram channel by the head of the committee, Alexander Hinshtein. Now the ban on the "propaganda of non -traditional relations" applies only to minors. Khinshtein believes that this is "clearly not enough."

Earlier, the State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin made a similar initiative. Before that, he conducted a survey in his telegram channel, where 2/3 of the voting participants allegedly supported the ban on the “propaganda of non-traditional relations”, regardless of the age.

• Since 2013, there is a law on the prohibition of propaganda of non -traditional sexual relations among minors since 2013, suggesting that homosexual and heterosexual relations are socially unequal. Depending on the degree of gravity, the law implies punishment in the form of a fine of up to a million rubles, administrative arrest or temporary suspension of the activities of a legal entity.
• According to human rights activists, the oppression of LGBT+ communities intensified after the adoption of this law. According to the Russian LGBT network, in 2020, 184 cases of violation of LGBT+ rights in 24 regions of the country were documented.
• In early June, a bill on fines for the distribution of "non -traditional sexual values" among the Russia's adult population was submitted to the State Duma. The explanatory note to him says: "Family, motherhood and childhood in their traditional, perceived from their ancestors, are those values that ensure a continuous change of generations, are a condition for the preservation and development of the multinational people of the Russian Federation, and therefore need special protection by the state."
