A magistrate in the Tagansky district of Moscow fined Google Corporation 60 thousand rubles under an article on violation of requirements in the field of personal data (Part 5 of Article 13.11 of the Administrative Code) because of a video on Navalny’s YouTube channel about lawyer Ilya Remeslo. Interfax reports this.
Ilya Remeslo initiated a criminal case of libel (Part 2 of Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code) against veteran Ignat Artemenko, for which Navalny was fined 850 thousand rubles. Also, the father-in-law of Remeslo’s colleague was recognized as a victim in another case against Navalny - about fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code). In this case, the politician was sentenced to nine years in a maximum security colony.
- On January 17, 2021, Navalny returned to Russia, where he was detained at border control at Sheremetyevo airport. On February 2, 2021, the court replaced the suspended sentence to which the politician had previously been sentenced in the Yves Rocher case with a real one. The oppositionistwas transferred to correctional colony No. 2 in the Vladimir region.
- On March 22, 2022, Navalny was sentenced to nine years in a maximum security colony on charges of fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code). He was also fined 1.2 million rubles on charges of insulting the court (Article 297 of the Criminal Code). On June 14, the politician was transferred to IK-6 in the Vladimir region.
- On June 9, 2021, the Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as extremist organizations. An appeals court later upheld this decision. Navalny and his associates were included in the Rosfinmonitoring list of extremists and terrorists.
- In 2020, Navalny survived an attempt on his life: on August 20, he felt severely ill on a plane flying from Tomsk to Moscow. The plane made an emergency landing in Omsk. Subsequently, the politician was hospitalized in the German Charité clinic. Representatives of the clinic stated that they found signs of a chemical warfare agent from the Novichok group in his body. In October, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) confirmed the presence of traces of poison from the Novichok group in Navalny’s tests. On December 14, 2020, an investigation was published by a group of journalists from Bellingcat , The Insider and CNN with the participation of Der Spiegel and the Anti-Corruption Foundation . Investigators found that a group of FSB officers with medical training had been following Navalny since 2017, including on the alleged days of the poisoning. The Investigative Committee refused to check the actions of the FSB officers whom Navalny accused of poisoning.
